Karolina Piątkowska-has graduated from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, under tutelage of prof. Henryk Keszkowski. She has performed solo and in chamber music ensembles in Poland, Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Italy. She has also performed with numerous orchestras, notably the Słupsk Chamber Orchestra “Sinfonia Baltica”, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and the Hanseatica Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Janusz Przybylski, Michał Nesterowicz and Bohdan Jarmołowicz. She took part in international music festivals: notably the “Warsaw Autumn” Festival – one of the most prestigious international contemporary music festivals, and Max Reger Tage Festival in Weiden. She is a laureate of Polish Violin and Viola Auditions in Toruń. She received the first prize in Young Chamber Music Competition in Gdańsk and the first place in the Polish Chamber Music competition in Wrocław. She received second prizes in the Grażyna Bacewicz Polish Chamber Ensembles' Competition in Łódź and the Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Gdańsk. As an important achievement, she received the first prize in the prestigious Krzysztof Penderecki International Contemporary Music Competition in Cracow. In 1997, the violin player performed a recital in Nuremberg, and received a violin made by an outstanding German luthier Gottfried Raabs. Karolina Piątkowska - Nowicka has attended numerous master classes conducted by Wanda Wiłkomirska, Edward Grach, Petru Munteanu and Irina Jaszwili. She has taken part in several International Contemporary Music Courses led by conductor Rüdiger Bohn (Warsaw, Trebnitz). She receives a scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Rotary Club and the Presidents of Gdańsk and Sopot. Apart from classical music, she also performs popular music. She has taken part in many projects in Poland and abroad, including “Opentaniec” (music by Adam Sztaba) and theatre performances: “Dracula” or “Jesus Christ Super Star”. She is a member of “Atelier Klezmer Band” with Andre HübnerOchodlo, performing Jewish music, and NeoQuartet, specializing in contemporary music. For four years she has been the concertmistress of the National Chamber Ochestra „Sinfonia Baltica” in Słupsk, and the second concertmistress in Hanseatica Chamber Orchestra.
