Chopin on 5 pianos

The fact that Chopin is a great composer, like the fact that his music can be interpreted in thousands of ways today is no longer an object of discussion. In other words, the music of Chopin is on one hand very inspiring, on the other - is an extremely graceful matter for the vision of a liberated artist. Chopinian festivals and dozens of CDs, including jazz and rock, are a clear confirmation of this thesis. ‘Jaskułke - Chopin on five pianos’ is an innovative vision of the interpretation of Chopin's music, and the unusual and unexpected executive apparatus -five pianos – a grand proof of great skills and maturity of the artists. Project was initiated by Krzysztof Gałkowski, with cooperation of Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw. Next to Sławek Jaskułke, in the project also take part: Katarzyna Borek - one of the most outstanding classic pianists of the young generation as well as three Polish instrumentalists with jazz inclinations - Joanna Duda, Piotr Wyleżoł and Paweł Kaczmarczyk.
Slawek Jaskułke in this highly ambitious and aggressive form proposes a clash of two worlds - classics and jazz, but in this case on a completely different principles. Form of musical collage - because that’s what it is, creates an interactive form of a dialogue between classical world, and its jazz interpretations. Jaskułke corresponds with Chopin’s music in a very courageous and innovative way. He engages in an ambitious dialogue with it, proposing his own reflections, enriching it with original and unconventional arrangements, and finally it becomes a mere pretext to create a new composition. Artistic vision and musical concept of the whole is based on strong foundations of five individuals. The official premiere of the project took place September 12 , 2010 on the World Exposition in Shanghai.
